Mangaluru: After a series of protests, following several fatal accidents – Nanthoor Circle will be undergoing few temporary changes such as; narrowing down the circle and edging out more space for the vehicles to move.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner A.B Ibrahim called the circle ‘unscientifically constructed’ and directed the National Highways Authority of India to rectify it.
However, the proposal to construct an underpass project at the circle, with an estimated cost of Rs. 60 crore is still not been approved, said NHAI project director Vijay Kumar.
Meanwhile, as a temporary solution to easy out traffic movement, the bus stop, which is at Nanthoor Junction will be shifted a little further.
ACP (traffic) Uday Nayak said after the road has been widened with available space, a free left will be given for vehicles on the way to KPT from Kadri and to Bikarnakatte from KPT. Similarly, vehicles can pass straight from Bikarnakatte to Kadri co-ordinating with vehicles moving from Pumpwell towards KPT.
“We have also sent a proposal to sanction fund for the installation of signal at the circle”, he told newskarnataka.com
