Mangaluru: Demanding high level probe into death of Kavya Poojary, a student of Alva’s high school, a forum of like-minded organizations staged a strike in front of DC office here on Monday, September 11.

KS Vimala activist and leader of Janavadhi Mahila Sangatane said that despite sixty days after death of Kavya, no action has been initiated by the police department.
“Since 10 years, 15 unnatural deaths have been reported in this institution. Government or the administration has not taken any action. Article 21 of the Indian Constitution guarantees protection of right to life and personal liberty to every individual. But this right has been violated by this educational institution,” she said adding that education institutions should produce good citizens, but unfortunately planned murders are taking place in educational institutions.
She questioned as to how an institution which does not have permission to run residential school was running one, earning crores of rupees.

Slamming the BJP for its silence over Kavya’s death and for taking out ‘Mangaluru Chalo’ rally, she said that if the BJP had taken out a rally demanding justice for Kavya, everybody would have joined them.

She also urged that the Inspector General of Police should reveal the status of Kavya’s death case probe. “We have learnt that no FIR has been filed in this case. The DC was asked to submit a report on this case. What is the status of this report,” she questioned.

Rationalist Naraendra Nayak said that on one hand students are ending life due to Blue Whale challenge and on other hand students are being killed by educational institutions, which may be referred to as ‘education shark challenge’.

CITU leader Sunil Kumar Bajal, DYFI state president Munir Katipalla, DSS leader M Devdas, SFI leader Nithi Kuthar and others were present.
