Mangaluru: Lauding the sincere efforts of the Mangaluru City Police and Dakshina Kannada Police in tracing the sensational murder case of Karthik Raj and Korapadi gram panchayath vice-president Abdul Jaleel, JD(S) district president Mohammed Kunhi has said that the BJP and its sister organizations had politicised the murder of Karthik Raj for political gains.
In many instances of murders in the district, the BJP has politicised the issue giving it communal colour, which proved out to be wrong during the course of probe. “The BJP should stop such dirty politics. Even the local MP who should have given responsible statements, has given cheap and irresponsible statements in this case,” he said.
Commenting on arrest of accused in the murder of Korapadi Jaleel, Mohammed Kunhi said that Rajesh Naik who is accused in the murder of Korapadi Jaleel is an activists of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike.
“Even others are of the same outfit. Naming underworld element Vicky Shetty in the murder may have been done with the intention of hushing up the name of the Hindutva outfit. Police department should hold a proper probe into the matter,” he said questioning how an elected representative can work fearlessly if such incidents occur.
While attacking District in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai and the Congress for failed administration mechanism in the region, he went on to condemn Minister U T Khader for raising questions at the efficiency of the local police.
