Mangaluru: The Akhila Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha has decided to contest in the forthcoming assembly elections in Karnataka for 30 seats.

Addressing a press meet here on April 20,  Akhila Bharathiya Hindu Mahasabha State President N Subramanya Raju said, “Akhila Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha will contest elections under the united alliance called ‘Saffron Front’ which has the support of Sri Rama Sena, Sampoorna Bharath Kranti Party, Shiv Sena and Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi.”

“Under the leadership of Pramod Muthalik, the alliance “Saffron Front” will come into existence within two days. The Shiv Sena will fight elections in 35 constituencies of Karnataka Assembly. The Sampoorna Bharath Kranti Party will field 15 candidates in various constituencies in the state. “In some constituencies, we will support the independent candidates,” Raju stated.

He also alleged that the BJP and Congress were two different faces of a single coin. Akhila Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha has come forward to contest the elections as an alternative to these parties. Akhila Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha is the oldest party in the country, he said.

He also informed that his party was planning to bring Praveen Thogadiga for election campaign in Mangaluru.

The candidates of Akhila Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha for Dakshina Kannada are Dharmendra from Mangaluru South Constituency, Suresh B Salian from Mangaluru North Constituency and Bhargav V J from Madikeri.

HJS and Sanatan Sanstha will not contest any election

The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and Sanathan Sanstha, through a press release, clarified that they will be contesting in the Karnataka Elections.

The press release issued on April 21 said, “Some news items have appeared in few newspapers that Hindu Janajagruti Samiti will be contesting the Assembly elections. However, we have no idea as to how the names of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Sanatan Sanstha have cropped up in these news. To engage in the political activities in this fashion is against our principles. Therefore, we have not taken any such decision either to contest any election or establish a political party. We will also be submitting a statement to the Election Commission on these lines.”
