Vidyagiri: The Nudisiri Vedike of Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodabidri, was beautifully decorated with twinkling stars, bright and colorful lights, a Christmas tree, a crib, all fronting a colorful backdrop in keeping with the occasion of Christmas 2019. Indeed, Alva’s Christmas came alive with an audience of over 4000 enjoying the Christmas celebration.
The chief guest of the event Father Francis Xavier Gomes emphasized the ambience of Christmas and answered the question, why Jesus was born. “Every time we love one another, share, forgive and smile, it is Christmas. In the past, the personalities like Gandhiji, Mother Teresa strove hard to uplift the downtrodden and helped them voice for their sorrows. Today, in our society these kinds of personalities should be more, and through them, Jesus Christ’s true principles could be achieved’, he said.
As a part of celebration Humanity Trust founder Roshan Belman was felicitated on the occasion. After receiving felicitation Roshan said that renunciation could be achieved by empathizing with every other person in and around us.
This was followed by prize distribution for competitions conducted for carol singing, stars making of Udupi and Mangalore Diocese Churches. The winners were awarded cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs7500, Rs 5000 for first, second and third places respectively.
The celebration also witnessed carol singing by more than 500 carolers, cutting of the Christmas cake, and a dance drama depicting the birth of infant Jesus, etc.
Moodabidri Corpus Christi Church Parish Priest Father Paul Sequeira, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr. M Mohan Alva, Christian Development Board Chairman Joylus D’Souza and AEF Trustee Vivek Alva were present among others.
