Mangaluru: The communally-sensitive town of Kalladka witnessed fresh violence on Tuesday amid the prohibitory orders in place in the town till June 16.
The clash reportedly erupted after a verbal argument between HJV leader Rathnakara Shetty and Khaleel took an ugly turn and the duo stabbed each other. Following the incident members of both groups resorted to stone pelting even as the police attempted to control the mob. Bantwal Town Police Sub-Inspector Rakshit Gowda also sustained injuries in the stone-pelting.
The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Sensing the volatility of the situation, district police beefed up security, deploying 12 KSRP platoons, 6 DAR platoons and 400 officers drawn from across Western Range.
It may be recalled that Sec 144 was imposed until June 16 in the area in view of the clashes that erupted following a stabbing incident on May 26 in which Mohammed Hashir was injured after he was attacked a group of three- Mithun, Amit and Yathin when he was on his way home from the mosque after Friday prayers.
