Mangaluru: Physicians’ Day was celebrated by the Association of Physicians of India (A.P.I) D.K. Chapter on 19 Jan at I.M.A. Hall Mangaluru.
A.P.I. President Dr Prabha Adhikari presided over the function and in her address explained the aims and objectives of Physician’s Day and congratulated the awardees for their unique achievements.
In commemoration of Physicians Day, three city based Eminent Physicians Dr Devdas Rai, Dr Harold Mascarenhas, and Dr E.V.S. Maben were felicitated for their yoeman service in the field of general medicine and presented with the prestigious A.P.I. Life Time Achievement Award in recognition of their achievements in the medical profession and academic excellence.
Responding to the felicitations the awardees expressed their deep gratitude towards the A.P.I. committee and members for choosing and honouring them with this prestigious award. On this occasion, Dr Christopher Pais, Dr Sydney D’souza, Dr Mohan Pai, and Dr Mohammed Ismail presented the awards.
A condolence meeting was held in memory of the Late Dr K.R. Shetty, Eminent Neurologist and former principal of K.M.C. Mangalore. Dr I.G. Bhat, Dr Joe Varghese, Dr MV Prabhu, and Dr Krishna Murthy recalled their Association and cordial relationship with Dr Shetty and paid rich tributes to his achievements in the medical profession and academic field.
Secretary Dr Haroon Hussain proposed a vote of thanks.
