Mangaluru: An army officer, on a solo cycle expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to promote Indian Armed Forces Flag Day, motivate youth to join Indian Army and to raise funds for the widows, families of army jawan who have sacrificed their lives for the nation reached Mangaluru city today (July 7), 32 days after flagging the expedition.
Lieutenant Commander Manoj Gupta, who started on the expedition on June 6 aims to reach Kanyakumari by July 16. The expedition was officially flagged off from Ladakh Scouts Regimental Center in Leh.
Manoj Gupta who is posted as the instructor in Indian Naval Academy, has already crossed Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madya Pradesh, Maharastra. “Karnataka is the 9th state I am visiting and I will head towards Kerala and Kanyakumari,” said Manoj.
He also informed the expedition was organized with help of Indian Naval Academy and Southern Command Indian Navy.
“The motto of this cycle expedition is to promote Indian Armed Forces Flag Day and motivate youth to join Indian Navy. I am travelling 100 kilometres per day for this purpose,” he added.
