Mangaluru: The elections are progressing smoothly in the district. At 1 PM close to 46 percent of the voters have exercised their right to vote.
The rains that lashed the district yesterday provided a respite from the scorching heat in the morning hours. Voters lined up right from the start of the election at 7 AM in the district. As noon approached close to half of the votes were cast in majority of the election booths in the district.
The constituency-wise voting percentage at 1 PM is as follows:

The polling booths will be open till 6 PM. The election commission official said they were confident that the voter turnout would increase as the day progresses.

At 5PM, the voting percentage in Dakshina Kannda district stands at 72.05 percent.
