Mangaluru: Giving reasons for skyrocketing oil prices during the Narendra Modi-led union government, senior Congress leader C M Ibrahim ridiculed, “Since Modi has 56 inches chest, the prices of petrol, diesel and domestic gas have gone up!”

Ibrahim continued, “During Manmohan Singh’s government, the oil prices were less though he has only 40 inches chest. Ibrahim was in city to campaign for coalition candidate Mithun Rai on Tuesday, April 16. Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office, Ibrahim condemned the Modi-led government stating that the prices of grocery items too had shot up during the last five years.

“UPA never used surgical strike for political gains like Modi is doing now. Surgical strike is an internal matter of the country’s armed forces which should be kept very confidential. But, BJP leaders have been using the surgical strike for their political gain. Surgical Strike has not started after Modi came to power. When UPA government was in power, around 27 surgical strikes took place. However, no leader of Congress had used them for the political gains. Modi has misused the armed forces’ internal matter”, Ibrahim added.

Pointing at the concept of ‘chowkidar’, Ibrahim said, “It is said that some Rafale files are missing. Then what kind of chowkidar Modi is? The concept of chowkidar has been created just to gain votes.”

MLC Ivan D’Souza, Congress leaders Vishwas Das, Udupi District In-charge Minister Jayamala and others were present.
