Mangaluru: Asiad gold medalist of the 4×400 m relay team, M R Poovamma received a rousing welcome at the Mangaluru Internation Airport here on Thursday, September 6.
Speaking to the media here, Poovamma dedicated the gold medals to her parents and the victims of the Kodagu deluge.
“Because of my parents’ support, I could reach to this extent,” she said.
Adding that her next mission is to prepare for the Asian Championship and World Championship, which will be held in 2019.
MR Poovamma also said that she had met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Wednesday, September 6.
“Both PM and Sports minister have assured to support us.” She added.
MLA Vedavyas Kamath, former state minister Abaychandra Jain, Alvas Education Foundation Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva, Chairman of Sahyadri Educational Institution Dr Manjunath, corporators Roopa D Bangera, Poornima and others were present.
