Kasaragod: An attempt to sexually abuse a school girl was foiled by alert teachers after the girl at the receiving end raised an alarm in Badiyadka on January 10.
Police nabbed Siddique, aged 28, a resident of Mulleria in connection with the incident.
The girl was waiting at the entrance of the school for her father, who is a teacher in the same school. Other students had left the school premises. Father’s arrival was delayed as a meeting went on for some time beyond regular school hours.
Noticing the girl standing alone, the accused dragged her towards the washrooms of the school in an attempt to abuse her. Girl sensing danger started shouting for help and the alert teachers on hearing her cries, rushed to her aid immediately.
In the meantime, the accused started running in order to escape but was overpowered by few teachers. Later they handed him over to the police who in turn produced him in the court before sending him to judicial custody.
It is learnt that accused Siddique had returned from Gulf four months ago.
