Mangaluru: The devotional songs of Koragajja was played using microphone in the makeshift shed of the Ayyappa devotees’ group near Shivaji’s statue at Moodushedde in the City on Monday May 9. However, Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar said that no disruption of azaan took place due to playing of devotional songs.
The Sri Rama Sene workers led by Sene Dakshina Kannada District President Pradeep Kumar, the workers played Koragajja devotional songs for 55 minutes from 5.05 am to 6.00 am. Speaking to mediapersons, Police Commissioner said that the Police Department was aware of the ongoing campaign and senior officials had instructed them to provide proper bandobast. In accordance, for about 55 minutes devotional songs were played at Moodushedde under Commissionerate limits, the incident which we are examining. No disruption of azaan took place, he clarified.
It can be recalled here that the Sri Rama Sene had announced that it would launch a bhajan and suprabhata campaign against azaan across the State from Monday.
