Mangaluru: Members of the governing body of an RSS-run school in Dakshina Kannada’s Bantwal have been booked, following a video of the school program being circulated.
The school, Shri Rama Vidya Kendra, is run by an RSS leader.
PFI activist Abubakkar Siddique had filed a complaint citing the video, which shows the students of the school demolishing a virtual Babri Masjid, in a bid to re-create the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition scenes.
As per sources, names of RSS head honcho Kalladaka Dr Prabhakar Bhat, Narayan Somayyaji, Vasanth Madhav and Chinnappa Kotian have been named in the FIR.
Section 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings) and 298 (Uttering, words, etc., with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person) of the Indian Penal Code have been slammed by Bantwal Town police.
The school event had taken place in presence of Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, DV Sadananda Gowda, Puducherry Governor Kiran Bedi and several other ministers and bureaucrats of Karnataka. Bedi had also shared the video on her twitter handle.
Speaking media, Dr Bhat, who is a highly influential and respected person within the saffron circle said that there was nothing wrong in staging a play that shows an episode of a historical event.
“It is not a mosque, it is just a building. We had depicted Jallianwala Bagh massacre as well, Nobody spoke about that,” The News Minute quoted Dr Bhat.
