Mangaluru: Hours after State minister for Urban Development and Haj Roshan Baig passed derogatory remarks against Narendra Modi, Yuva Brigade mentor Chakravarthi Sulibele has given a call to hold “I Am Modi”, a social media campaign.
In a press meet here in the city, Chakravarthi Sulibele stated, “I am not representing any party or organisation. Passing such comments against the prime minister of this country is an insult to culture of this state. Hence, being a Kannadiga, I condemn this. Narendra Modi is not a PM for a political party, but he is a PM for the entire nation. Insulting him is an insult to every individual of this nation. Hence to put an end to such culture, I am giving a call to the people of the state to hold ‘I am Modi’ Campaign. Being a state minister, Roshan Baig is representing the entire state.”
“In this campaign, people will set their Facebook and Whatsapp display picture of Narendra Modi. Even the status will be set as ‘I Am Modi’. The campaign will be up on Twitter too,” he added.
He alleged that in the state, efforts were on to divide the society on caste lines. Such derogatory remarks do not suit a civilised society, he added.
Sulibele speaking on Ramanath Rai’s abusive remarks against him, had recently said, “I have not reacted to this because I thought he may have the authority to abuse me as a minister for state. And I also thought that his seniors may advise him against such things.”
When asked whether he would demand sacking of the minister from the cabinet, Chakravarthi said that it was upto the chief minister.
