Mangaluru: The Bajpe Police, on Tuesday, arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in the brutal murder of a 20-year-old man at Devaragudde in Ekkar, on Tuesday, June 2.
The arrested accused have been identified as Deepesh, Suhas Shetty, Prashanth alias Pachchu, Mokshith and Dhanraj.
It is alleged that the accused attacked 20-year-old Keerthan of Marakada and two others, Nithin Poojary and Manesh on May 31. While Keerthan died at the scene, Nithin and Manesh survived and were rushed to a private hospital in the city for treatment.
It is said that there was enmity between Keerthan’s and another group over sand mining, which culminated in the attack.
A complaint was registered at the Bajpe Police Station in this regard and the cops arrested five persons today. Four others, who are also said to have been involved in the crime, are yet to be arrested.
The arrest will be produced before a court, sources in the police department informed.
