Bantwal: The one-day Kannada Sahitya Sammelana organised jointly by Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishat and the Bantwal unit of the parishat brought out the splendour of local culture, tradition to the fore and provided ample opportunity for participants to savour the richness of Kannada language on March 24 at Siddakatte.
Sangabettu Gram Panchayat (GP) President Gulabi Shetty flagged off the procession in front of Saint Patrick’s School in the morning. Later, Kukkipadi GP President offered flowers to the portrait of Bhuvaneshwari. Various cultural troupes joined the procession and led the Sammelan President in an open vehicle to the main venue at government first grade college grounds.
Bantwal Taluk Panchayat Vice President Abbas Ali hoisted the national flag at the main venue and ZP member Tungappa Bangera hoisted the Kannada flag. DK Parishath President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura hoisted the Parishath flag on the occasion.
Chief Whip of the State Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza inaugurated the solar power system in the institution premises.
Sammelan President, retired lecturer and writer Pundikai Ganapayya Bhat, senior litterateur Laxmi Narayan Alva, President of Taluk Sahithya Parishat K Mohan Rao, Block Education Officer Lokesh, Kannada writers, columnists and many other prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Tasty dishes were served to all participants taking part in the Sammelan during the day for breakfast, lunch and evening tea. The arrangements made for the one-day Sammelan were well appreciated by all those who took part.
