Mangaluru: The Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy (KBSA) announced today that it will confer its annual honorary awards on B M Haneef, Bengaluru, Mohammed K Mata, Uppinangady and Mohammed Ali Uchil, Abu Dhabi for the year 2015.
It was also announced that Dr Wahab Doddamane Memorial Research Award will be conferred on Yakub Khader Gulwadi and P Sushila Upadhyaya Memorial Beary Women Award on Maryam Ismail.
Addressing media, President of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, B A Mohammed Hanif said that there will be ceremony at Town Hall on April 16 at 4:45 PM and the awards will presented in the presence of Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree, district incharge minister B Ramanath Rai, MLA Mangaluru south J R Lobo, MLA Mangaluru south Mohiuddin Bawa and other dignitaries.
The annual honorary awards will go to B M Haneef, Bengaluru for his contribution in the field of language and literature, Mohammed K Mata, Uppinangady in the field of art and Mohammed Ali Uchil, Abu Dhabi in the field of culture and organisation.
B M Haneef, a journalist by profession has written many articles and is also known for translating ‘Kanakadasara Jeevana Charithre’ to Beary language.
Mohammed K Mata has worked in Kannda cinema. He has written many short stories.
Mohammed Ali Uchil is known for his philanthropy activities for the coastal Karnataka Muslim community like organizing mass wedding, aid to children from poor economic backgrounds and others.
Registrar of KBSA Umarabba, district information officer Khader Sha, members of KBSA Hameed Padubidri, Zohra Abbas and others were present.
