Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on Monday, September 9, termed the “Bharat Bandh” call given by the Congress and several other parties as a murder of democracy.

Addressing a press meet at district BJP office here, Nalin Kumar said, “The Karnataka state government has forcefully implemented the bandh using the police department as a tool.”

‘Congress has ignored the Supreme court’s verdict while holding ‘Bharat Bandh’,” Kateel alleged.

Taking a dig at Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara, Nalin Kumar Kateel said, “Parameshwar has to bear the losses incurred during the bandh in the state.”

He also alleged that the Congress activists had forced the closure of shops in the district. They had not even spared the pharmaceuticals shops and the ambulances carrying the patients to the hospital, he accused.

On miscreants pelting stones at a car belonging to Bantwal MLA Rajesh, MP Nalin termed that it was a murder attempt on BJP MLA in Bantwal.

He also said that the police department should answer how many people were arrested for forcefully shutting business establishments.

MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Dr. Bharath Shetty and others were present.
