Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada BJP President Sanjeeva Matandoor alleged that District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai and the Congress government had failed to maintain the law and order in the district leading to its collapse.

Demanding the resignation of Ramanath Rai, he said that miscreants from Kerala came here to create untoward incidents. “Sand and drug Mafias are rampantly increasing in the district. Since 45 days, Section 144 has been imposed in Bantwal taluk. Ramanath Rai and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have failed to maintain law and order. In the history of Dakshina Kannada, it is for the first time that prohibitory orders have been clamped for such a long time. Government has failed to ban a communal organisation like PFI.

He also said that the police superintendent had asserted that a few who came from Kerala had pelted stones on the mob during funeral procession of RSS activist Sharath but due to political pressure police had booked Hindu leaders Sathyajith Surthkal, Harish Poonja and Sharan Pumpwell though they don’t have any role in stone pelting incidents. “They have been booked for the appeasement of minorities. As the state government has failed to handle the situation, BJP will bring this issue to the notice of the union home minister and ask him to investigate the matter through NIA. Police department should work unbiased”, he added.

MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik and former MLC Monappa Bhandary also spoke on this occasion.

BJP leaders Nagaraj Shetty, Kishore Rai, Sudarshan, Dr. Y Bharath Shetty and others were present.
