Mangaluru: MLC Ivan D’Souza has predicted that the BJP government is counting its last days as the Election Commission (EC) has declared by-polls for the 15 constituencies in state and the Congress is confident of winning in all constituencies.

Addressing reporters at district Congress office on Sunday, September 22, Ivan said that the disqualified MLAs have been barred from contesting polls and the SC will not interfere in such issues.  “In the previous instances also, the Supreme Court never interfered upon the decision of the EC and asked to postpone the dates of by-polls. Hence, disqualified MLAs have lost their opportunity of contesting in the election and their support for the BJP too is of no use, ” he informed.

Ivan ridiculed saying that the BJP is now trying to apply for the family tree certificates of disqualified MLAs so as to provide an opportunity to the family members of them in the upcoming by-polls. “As disqualified MLAs have abandoned their party and caused for the collapse of the coalition government, people would not support them and would teach them a befitting lesson. Even if the family members of disqualified MLAs contest the polls,  people will not support them. Hence, the Congress would emerge victorious in all 15 constituencies ”, he said.

Meanwhile, Ivan informed that a large number of party leaders and workers from Dakshina Kannada district would participate in Belagavi against the poor response of state government towards flood victims, on September 24.

Zilla Panchayat member Mamatha Gatti, former corporator Appi and Nazeer Bajal were present.
