Mangaluru: MLC Ivan D’Souza has alleged the BJP leaders of misusing the food distribution programme for their personal and political gains.
Pressing for a probe, the MLC said that the BJP leaders and party workers are distributing the kits donated by the government, organisation/religious centres and individuals showing as if it is being given from their personal end.
He said that a lot of complaints are being heard in this regard and a probe must be conducted to expose the BJP.
He also alleged that instead of concentrating on activities which would control the spread of Covid-19, district administration has been wasting time on unnecesssary works like extension of market, construction of market without tendering process, distribution of passes etc.
“Gear up to control the spread of the pandemic first, rest can all follow,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ivan informed that district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has taken no steps to ensure more testing centrees are opened in the district.
