Mangaluru: The actor-turn-politician, former BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha, who was in city campaigning for coalition candidate Mithun Rai informed that the achievements of the BJP is nothing but defaming and side-lining those who strove hard to build the BJP.
He was addressing the gathering during the election campaign organised by the Mudipu Block Congress Committee at Mudipu junction on Sunday, April 14. He said, “ the senior leaders like L K Adwani, Yashwant Sinha among other great leaders were sidelined in the BJP. As there is no scope for collective decision in the BJP, I had to resign from the party. I don’t want to continue in a party which is dictated by a single leader and which is running on shoulder softly a single leader,” he said.
Attacking PM Narendra Modi and BJP National Chief Amit Shah he said, “the BJP is the one-man show and two-man army party. I will always trust and follow secular ideas, republican form of government. Modi has toured the entire country 90 times in order to build his personal image and not for the sake of the country. Modi has spent over Rs 10,000 crore for this Lok Sabha election”, he alleged.
Meanwhile, Shatrughan Sinha clarified that if Indira Gandhi was in the Congress till now, he would have not broken ties with the Congress party.
“Due to some reasons, I had to leave the party. As daring and dashing leader Rahul Gandhi has been leading the Congress party now, there is a good scope for the Congress. Soon after Rahul Gandhi assumed charge as the national president of the Congress party, it came to power in Rajastan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. If the people of Dakshina Kannada vote for coalition candidate Mithun Rai, Rahul Gandhi would become the prime minister of the country”, he said.
Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister U T khader, State Congress vice president Sudheendra Maroli, district Congress president and MLC Hareesh Kumar and other leaders like U K Monu, Mamatha Gatti, Prashanth Kajava, Vijayanath Vittal Shetty Abdul Jaleel Montugoli, JDS leader Hyder Parthippady among others were present.
