Mangaluru: With posts being circulated online about his alleged conversion to Hinduism, BJP leader Rahim Uchhil has clarified that he is being targeted by some invisible hands for his BJP inclination and also stated that his life is under threat.

Uchhil, in a news conference on Wednesday said that some people have been twisting facts and posting details online claiming that he has rejected Islam and embraced Hinduism.

“This is far from truth. I am not against my religion. I have been practicing all that a devout Muslim is mandated to practice and there is no deviation from the same,” he said adding that in a recent incident, when he had met Pejawar Seer, he had sought the blessings of the seer purely because the seer is in a reverent position.

“The Seer blessed me and gave me a shawl and prasadam, which I happily accepted. It does not signify any religious conversion,” said Uchhil.

The posts pertaining to Uchhil have been put on FB page ‘Mangalore Muslims’ and it may be recalled that it is the same page that hit headlines for making derogatory remarks on Kannada reality show contestant Suhana recently for singing a Bhajan in praise of Hindu God.
