Mangaluru: “The Bharatiya Janata Party is creating false propaganda against Congress as it is frightened as that we have been holding repeated padayatras, exposing the mistakes of the union government,” said Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister U T Khader.
He was addressing a gathering at the valedictory programme of the padayatra on Monday, January 28, organised from Talapady to Pumpwell Circle, in order to mount pressure on the union government to speed up the flyway works of Pumpwell and Thokkottu. He said, “During the recent programme on Ujwal scheme held at BC Road, the BJP leaders have given false statistics on beneficiaries. Though union government has given LPG connections to 8 lakh people, the state government has provided the same to over 16 lakh people under ‘Mukhyamantri Anila Yojane.’ BJP is misleading the public.”
He also asked the activists to be ready for the next Lok Sabha election. “Congress activists should create awareness among the public about the anti-people governance of the Modi-led union government”, he said.
Former minister B Ramanatha Rai while addressing the gathering, termed BJP as Bharatiya Jhoot Party. “BJP leaders are now trying to provoke violence among people”, he said.
District Congress President Hareesh Kumar, former MLAs J R Lobo, Shakunthala Shetty and other leaders like Mamatha Gatti, Tharanath Shetty, Ibrahim Kodijal, Kanachur Monu, Sahul Hameed among others were present.
