Mangaluru: The district unit of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to go ahead with the planned rally on September 7 by making alternate arrangements following the state government’s decision to deny permission for the bike rally.

Opposing the arrest of BJP leaders R Ashok, Shobha Karandlaje, Mysuru MP Pratap Simha and other leaders in the state capital today, District President of BJP Sanjeev Matandur, addressing a press meet said, they would go ahead with the planned rally and youth taking part in the rally will employ other means of transport to reach the rally venue on September 7.

The state government is scuttling the peaceful rally demanding the ban on communal organisations like PFI, SDPI and the resignation of ministers Ramanath Rai and U T Khadar, they alleged.

The youth from different district centres will reach the venue by employing other means of transport like buses, cars and trains and the leaders exuded confidence of getting permission to host the rally at the Nehru Maidan grounds on September 7.

The Siddramaiah government has declared unofficial emergency in the state by not allowing democratic forms of protest which aimed at giving emotional support to the families of right wing activists killed and this move will boomerang on the state ruling regime, they predicted.

The district unit leaders reminded the state government of the security arrangements provided by the then BJP government when the Congressmen took a rally to Bellary years ago.

State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa will lead the rally on September 7 and the rally will be successful, leaders confirmed.

There are no previous instances of violence during BJP rallies in the state but the police department is under the stranglehold of the district in-charge minister and following his diktats to scuttle the rally, they alleged.

The district police administration has assured of permission to host the rally at Nehru Maidan and the letter of request has been forwarded, they said.

The DK unit will make all arrangements for youth activists arriving from different destinations to the venue and assured of adequate protection.

In case if the DK district police administration denies permission to hold the rally BJP on September 7, the leaders warned of taking other routes, without disclosing them.

Former MLC Monappa Bhandary, former MLA Rukmaiah Poojary and other local leaders were present at the press meet.
