Mangaluru: Pointing out the incidents of recreating the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary, on January 30 by the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM), a right-wing outfit, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Dinesh Gundu Rao said that the BJP is trying to create violence in the country in the name of giving protection to Hindu religion.
Speaking to the reporters at Circuit House on Sunday, February 3, Finish Gundu Rao said, “though such incidents are a threat to the whole country, the BJP is supporting such activities in order to secure the confidence of voters. People should keep distance from the BJP”.
When asked about Mandya’s Lok Sabha candidate, he clarified that the party is yet to select candidate for any Lok Sabha constituency. “Though there are demands for securing ticket from few leaders, High Command would take a final decision on selecting the final candidates”, he said.
Meanwhile, he informed that the ultimate goal of the Congress and the JDS is to keep the BJP away from securing power. “The leaders of both the JDS and the Congress would finalise the candidates with mutual understanding to every Lok Sabha constituency”, he said.
MLC Ivan D’Souza, former minister B Ramanath Rai, former MLA Moideen Bava, ZP member Mamatha Gatti among others were present.
