Broad daylight robbery in Puttur; cash, jewellery worth lacs looted

Puttur: In a shocking incident, a gang comprising ten robbers looted a house in Ambatemoole Padhekarya, Badagabannur village after tying up two women living there on Tuesday, October 25.

The incident took place in broad daylight. There is no other house close to it. It is gathered that the gang first fastened plaster on the mouths of lady owner of the house and maid, tied their hands and legs with cloth and decamped with silver ornaments worth Rs 2.5 lacs. Surprisingly, the robbers did not take the jewelry of a goddess from another room. They broke open a cupboard and a box of jewelry.

The owner of the house, Vishnu Bhat, a farmer had been to Perla to attend some programme. His son and daughter in law live in Mangaluru. Vishnu and wife Savithri live in the house with a maid coming daily for work from morning to evening.

Dakshina Kannada SP Bhushan G Borase, Additional SP Vedamurthy, Puttur assistant SP C B Rishyanth, circle inspector Anil Kulkarni, Puttur rural Sub-inspector Abdul Khader arrived at the spot and probed the matter. A dog squad too was called for investigation.
