Udupi: A builder allegedly committed suicide by stabbing himself in his own car at Sagri, near Manipal on Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Oliver Lewis (68), a resident of Laxmindra Nagar, Manipal. He is originally from Honnappa Kundru of Thonse.
He left his residence at Manipal at around 7 am today and then circulated messages on WhatsApp about his decision to end life. A death note too has reportedly been recovered, which states that he ended life out of his own will. It is said that Oliver was under depression and this may have been the reason behind his extreme step.
He was active in Lions Club, Santhekatte and helped a lot of poor people.
Udupi District Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi, Additional SP Kumarachandra and other senior police officials visited the spot and have collected the necessary information.
A case has been registered at the Manipal Police Station.
