Businessmen duped of Rs 3 lakh in M’luru

Mangaluru: A man in the guise of opening a goat farm allegedly defrauded two businessmen of Rs. 3 lakh.

According to sources, a complaint has been filed at the Bunder Police Station against Bennychan Joseph for cheating.

Fredrick Ferrao and his friend Vijay Barboza own and run a juice shop in Hampankatte. Joseph, who supplied the shop with pickles, told the two that he owned a successful goat farm in Davanagere and encouraged them to start one on their land.

According to the complaint, he also offered to help them set up their goat farm.

Fredrick and Vijay transferred Rs. 3 lakh into Joseph’s bank account as they believed him.

However, Joseph failed to put up the farm as promised and defrauded them, stated the complaint.
