Mangaluru: State Tourism Minister C T Ravi chaired a review meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday, September 30.
Addressing the media he said, “About 30 places have been identified for Yatri Pravasi Niwas and have been licensed. A prompt evaluation is required in this regard as in some places there is no need for a Yatri Pravasi Niwas. The maintenance of the Niwas is very crucial and a strict vigil on such places needs to be kept so that they are not misused.”
Expressing his unhappiness with the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) for not completing the required works, the minister said, “It is sad to see that, in a district like Dakshina Kannada, the tourism-related projects are on the slow track. The funds will be sanctioned for the development of the Yatri Pravasi Niwas only once the local bodies grant permission for the same and transfer the records to the concerned department.”
He then directed the concerned officials to use the funds released by the government appropriately for the construction of Pravasi Niwas.
Deputy Commissioner Sindhu Roopesh, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath and others were present.
