Mangaluru: The awareness programme on Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), scheduled at Bangra Kuloor on January 27, which will be attended by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, is neither a show of strength nor a revenge programme against the anti-CAA protest held recently in the city. It is being organised to educate the public about the Act, informed the district unit of the BJP on Saturday, January 25.

Speaking about the programme, BJP district president Sudarshan M said, “The opposition Congress party and other anti-social elements have been creating confusion about the CAA. There is no cause for worry for either the Muslim community or any other citizen of the country. Those who oppose the Act are misguiding the public in order to appease a particular community. The programme will educate the public about the merits of the Act.”

The Dakshina Kannada district has 1861 booth committees and the Udupi district has over 1000 booths. As over 100 people will be attending the awareness programme from every booth committee of the BJP in DK and Udupi districts, we are expecting over one lakh people to attend the programme. Rajnath Singh will be the keynote speaker at the programme, which will start at around 3 pm and conclude at around 6 pm. All arrangements have been made to prevent untoward incidents,” he informed.

Mangaluru North MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty, former MLC Monappa Bhandary and other BJP leaders Jagadish Shenava, Sanjay Prabhu, Sudheer Shetty Kannur, Rohith Amin and others were present.
