Mangaluru: Considering the acute shortage of skilled manpower for farm operations, the Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Co-operative (CAMPCO) Limited has planned to organise a five-day training programme for the unemployed youths in the area in areca palm climbing at CPCRI at Vittal from December 5 to 9.
The training will be provided to the youth between the age group of 18 and 35 and the trained persons will be titled as `Adike Kaushalya Pade.` During the five days period, the candidates will be given stipend, free food and accommodation and trained in all aspects of climbing areca palms, spraying and harvesting apart from giving a proper know-how on the preparations of accessories and knowledge on first aid etc.
CAMPCO President Satishchandra released the logo of this training programme at its office on Friday, November 16 and urged the people to get the full benefit of this training. Those who are interested can approach CAMPCO branch for enrollment at the earliest, he said.
He also informed that such a training programme was first started at Shivamogga for the unemployed youth at the arecanut research centre at Thirthahalli. “All the trained persons are doing well in their jobs now and earning more than Rs 1,200 per day.
