Puttur: Six persons including Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district A B Ibrahim was injured in an accident between two cars that took place at Udane, Gundya near Uppinangadi on Saturday evening, July 23.
The incident occured when Ibrahim was on his way to Bengaluru. A Scorpio from the opposite direction which was coming from Bengaluru in a bid to overtake a truck, hit the DC’s Fortuner.
According to sources Ibrahim, his wife, the driver of the DC’s Fortuner car Rafiq and three others were injured in the mishap. While Ibrahim and Rafiq were taken to a hospital in Mangaluru, the rest of the injured were shifted to a hospital in Nelyadi.
Traffic was affected for more than an hour at the accident spot. Uppinangady police have registered a case.
Ibrahim had recently got transferred as Bengaluru as the commissioner of transport and road safety and is yet to take charge.
