Mangaluru: The Kadri police have filed a case against the society of an old apartment complex at Vas Lane, where 7-year-old Muhammed Sinan lost his life due to a malfunctioning lift. The case was filed against the society on August 24, under the Indian Penal Code section 304a (causing death by negligence).
Reportedly, the police will continue their investigations after receiving a report from the officials of the PWD department and MESCOM, who are presently inspecting the apartment lift.
The deceased, Muhammed Sinan was a resident of Addur in Bantwal. According to sources, his head got stuck between the doors of the lift when they closed all of a sudden. Although the residents of the building managed to pry open the doors of the elevator after hearing his cries, it was too late for the boy.
The boy’s last rites were performed on Friday, August 24 at the Addur mosque.
