Surathkal: Vidyadayinee English Medium School, an institution run by Hindu Vidyadayinee Sangha, at Surathkhal is celebrating its centenary year. The institution inaugurated Barekare Venkatramana Kedilaya Block at Vidyadayini English Medium School (CBSE), on Sunday, June 5.
The block was inaugurated by H.Kripa V Kediyala, who is an old student of Iddya Vidyadayinee Higher Primary School and Vidyadayinee High School . She is native of Hosabettu and after completing studies was working in Bangalore. Presently leading a retired life, Kedilaya has donated about Rs 50 lac towards the construction of the CBSE block.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjan Rao, one of the most trusted and senior lawyer in the district and the president of H.V.Sangha said that it is difficult to ask for donation and people must voluntarily come forth and donate generously, when they are convinced that it is going for a noble cause.
Citing example of how Alexander The Great, after suffering from an incurable disease had wished that after his death his hands should be seen hanging out of the coffin so that people know that after death one goes empty-hand, Rao called upon people to donate generously for good causes.
Rao said that Vidyadayinee group of schools are scaling great heights and accomplishments of the students are proof for the same.
On the occasion the SSLC toppers, PU toppers this year and toppers from other schools who have joined Govinda Dass PU College were all recognized and books were presented to them.
