CCB constable suspended in honeytrap case

Mangaluru: A City Central Branch policeman named Ganesh has been suspended by police commissioner TR Suresh for his involvement in the honeytrapping of a retired official to the tune of Rs 3 lakhs.

In the honeytrap incident that occurred on March 20, the retired official was offered a massage service at his home. When the official was being attended to by a lady from a massage parlour, a couple of men captured the scene on video. Thereafter, they blackmailed the official, demanding a sum of Rs 10 lakh to not spread the video. A payment of Rs 3 lakh was made in this regard. After the incident came to light, six people were nabbed.

Based on a report submitted by assistant commissioner Rajendra, a chargesheet was filed on October 24 and Ganesh is one of the people listed in the same as the number used by the woman to contact the retired official is registered in his name.

When the police commissioner asked Ganesh to explain his connection to the case, the constable said that he had lent his SIM card to the woman in question as he was acquainted with her.
