CCB police apprehend another accused in Deepak Rao murder case

Mangaluru: The CCB police, on Tuesday, July 17 nabbed one more accused in the daylight murder of Deepak Rao at Katipalla. With this arrest, the police have so far detained thirteen persons in this case.

The arrested, 23-year-old Safwan alias Chappu is a resident of Krishnapura in Suratkal and also happens to be the brother of Rizwan, the main accused in Rao’s murder case.

A team of CCB officers led by inspector Shantharama, PSI Shyam Sundar and Kabbal Raj arrested Safwan from near Mukka here.

It may be recalled that Deepak Rao (30) was brutally assaulted in broad daylight on January 3, 2018. His murder came at a time when the district was reeling with instances of communal killings. A case in this regards was registered at Suratkal police station
