Mangaluru: The Suratkal Police nabbed a chain snatcher and seized gold ornaments worth Rs 1.55 Lakh from his possession on Saturday, October 27.
The arrested has been identified as Habeeb Hasan alias Habbi alias Habeeb (39), son of Ahmed, a resident of Chembugudde in Permannur village, Thokkottu. With the arrest of Habeeb, Suratkal Police have solved two chain snatching cases which occurred between September 10 and 12 in their limits. Sources from Suratkal police station informed that the accused snatched the Mangalasutra of Sanjeevi (55), a resident of Katipalla when she was returning from a shop on September 10. The accused was also involved in another chain snatching case, which was reported on September 12, wherein a woman was robbed of her Mangalasutra. Police informed that Habeeb and his friend used to travel in their motorcycle and target women walking alone. However, his friend is yet to be arrested.
The accused has been remanded to judicial custody, police sources said
