Puttur: In a shocking incident, a child got locked inside a car by mistake for 45 minutes and was rescued by breaking open the windshield.
The incident took place near the bus stand here on Friday, when one person came in a car along with his child. He stopped his car opposite to a mall and locked it pressing the front door button with the keys inside. He failed to notice that the ignition was on with the child in deep sleep.
Thanks to the air-conditioning, the child was able to breathe inside.
All the possibilities of opening the doors were negated as the car had a central-locking system. A large number of people gathered waking up the kid from its slumber. The owner of the car dismissed the idea of a mechanic who had suggested of turning the battery to off position which might caused the doors to open, as he was scared that it might switch off the air-conditioning and the child would get suffocated.
The anxious child was brought out only after someone broke the rear windshield.
