Mangaluru: A delegation from the Christian community, under the aegis of Rashtriyavadi Christara Vedike, attended a Ganeshotsava programme at the Sanghaniketana in Mannagudda and offered prayers on Wednesday, August 4.
This is the fourth consecutive year that a Christian delegation is visiting the Ganeshotsava celebration at the Sanghaniketan and offering prayers to Lord Ganesha.
After offering prayers, founder of the Vedike Franklin Monteiro said, “Bal Gangadhar Tilak first started the Ganeshotsava programme to unite the people. During the Ganesha festival people should unite, irrespective of caste, creed, colour and sex. The members of the Vedike attend the Ganeshotsava programme every year as a token of communal harmony.”
Ganeshotsava committee secretary M Sathish Prabhu welcomed the delegation with a floral bouquet and said that a Christian delegation offering prayers to Lord Ganesha is an example of the prevailing communal harmony in the Dakshina Kannada district.
The members of the delegation included Catholic Sabha president Rolphy D’Costa, Lany Marija Pinto, Anitha Pinto, Joel Mendonca, Sandeep D’Silva, Francis Pinto Bejai, Nelson Castelino, Prakash, Oswald D’Cunha, Roshan D’Souza Ashokanagar and Nelson Feravo.
