Mangaluru: Karnataka State Vice-President for the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Vasanth Achari has exhorted the working class to not vote for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Narendra Modi.

Speaking at the ‘Mahila Hamali Karmikara Samavesha’ of Bunder region, Vasanth Achari said, “The Narendra Modi-led government came into power five years ago. Modi had made promises such as ‘Acche Din’, ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’, bringing back black money, depositing Rs 15 Lakh in everybody’s bank account, control in price rise and many more. But now it is proven that everything was a lie. ‘Acche din’ (good days) have come to Tata, Birla, Ambani and Adanis but not for common people. Prices of basic necessities are rising. The Labour laws favouring the workers are being amended to favour the managements, and as a result, the labourers could be deprived of minimum wages, social security and pension facilities. The working class people of the entire nation should ensure that an anti-labour government like this should not come to power once again.”

Chief guest for the event, CITU General Secretary for Dakshina Kannada district, Sunil Kumar Bajal said “The BJP MPs in the past 25 years, especially Nalin Kumar Kateel in his 10-year tenure, have not done anything for the development of Dakshina Kannada. Instead, the BJP has created communal disharmony in the district. They have even failed to generate jobs for the youth of the district. Hence, the working class should ensure that the BJP does not come to power once again and secular candidates win.

President of ‘Hamali Karmikara Sangha’ Ahmed Bawa presided over the function. Committee leaders Sulochana, Kushalakshi, Mukka Susheela, Girija and many others were present.
