Mangaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said that properties worth Rs 30,000 crore have been lost in Karnataka due to flood and Rs 3000 crore relief has been sought from the Central government to provide immediate compensation to the flood victims.
Yediyurappa came to the district to visit flood-affected areas. Addressing the reporters at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), on Monday, August 12, he said that he would visit the rain-affected areas of both Bantwal and Belthangady taluks and meet the flood victims.
“After taking stock of the situation from the officials and from the residents who lost their properties, I will go to New Delhi and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on , August 16 and insist him to release more compensation. Meanwhile, a discussion will be held with regard to the cabinet expansion as well”, he said.
After alighting from the special flight at MIA at around 11 am, he proceeded towards flood-affected areas Bantwal and Belthangady taluk by car.
