Mangaluru: Continuing his tirade against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary has demanded the CM to step down from the post immediately so as to make way for others.

Addressing a news conference on Friday, Poojary said that a survey conducted in the state shows that CM Siddaramaiah ranks third in popularity. The first two positions have been bagged by BJP Chief B S Yeddyurappa and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy.

“Does this report not show the popularity of our CM,” Poojary questioned adding that the CM’s political career has been like a circus tent, where he has hopped from one party to another. “The Congress party gave you respect, responsibility and position. Do not deceive this party. The elections are fast approaching and your anti-people policies will take toll on the party,” he said adding that the CM’s adamant behaviour is harming the party.

Poojary said that there are efficient Dalit leaders in the party who can lead the state.

Recalling the by-polls that was fought by Siddaramaiah, Poojary said that he had himself gone from Mangaluru to campaign and at that time, the upper castes had not allowed Siddaramaiah to even enter their house. “I was around to handle the situation and you won. If not, your political career would have been cremated long ago,” he said.
