Mangaluru: With the state going to face the assembly polls in 2018, the JD(S) has decided to fight the polls and not join hands with either of the national parties to form the government.Addressing a news conference on Monday in Mangaluru, JD(S) State President H D Kumaraswamy said that there is no question of tie-up to form coalition government in future. “The JD(S) will contest in all 224 constituencies in the state,” he said.

Taking a dig at the state Congress government, HD Kumaraswamy said that chief minister Siddaramaiah led state government has failed miserably in managing the drought situation in the state. “There is no fodder for animals and the fodder meant for few districts are being diverted by the officials,” he said adding that no action has been taken despite the issue being brought to the notice of the government.

He pointed that during the by-polls the ministers were campaigning and now that the poll results are out, the ministers are busy meeting their high command in Delhi, instead of getting back to work.

He stated that the CM and the ministers should have toured the state to understand the ground realities and the pangs that droughts had brought in, but the state government seems to have no concern.

Ahmed Qureshi case

Speaking on Ahmed Quereshi’s incident, Kumaraswamy said that some had complained that Qureshi was tortured by the police, due to which he has developed severe kidney related issues. However, later it was projected that he developed those problems due to an accident. “How the accident took place when he was under police custody? Why his charges are not mentioned in the FIR, ” he questioned and added that a fair probe is a must into the case.

With regard to Yettinahole project, he said that he will be visiting the project aite tomorrow and also opined that the project would neither benefit Dakshina Kannada nor Kolar.

He added that criminal case should be filed against those who are responsible for the death of 14-year-old Harsha, who died two days after he suffered burns on an open land at Belvatagrama in Mysuru after factories dumped chemical disposes illegally.

Kumaraswamy also said that government should announce compensation to the victim.
