Mangaluru: In the wee hours on 27 Dec 23 at around 0005 hrs, Coast Guard Headquarters, Karnataka received a distress call from the agent of MT Ivory Ray, regarding critical injury onboard. One of the crew members had fallen in the washroom due to weakness and needed immediate medical assistance.
The swift and timely deployment of Indian Coast Guard Interceptor boat C-448 at 0210 hrs, with the Medical Officer proved vital in the safe transfer of an unconscious patient under medical supervision on the scene. The successful execution of the medical evacuation from MT Ivory Ray by IB C-448 in the middle of the night will repose the faith of mariners in the capabilities of the Indian Coast Guard which will enable them to pursue economic activities with confidence.
