Puttur: In today’s competitive world, everyone wants to be a part of the race irrespective of the outcome. Some leave a mark, though they don’t enter the list of winners. The field of art is no different. An artist has created a work of art, where a cobra which is known to spew venom provides water to wash clothes, gardening and even drinking if required.
Dhanjay Markanja, a resident of Markanja, Goliyadka, who is an art teacher at Savanur Vidyarashmi Institutions, is behind the special artwork. The moment one enters the residence in Goliyadka area, one is bound to fear, but in reality there is no danger. It appears from a distance as if a long venomous cobra is resting on a washing stone near the water tank.
Dhanajya Marjanja took 15 days to complete his little work of art keeping in mind the natural surroundings.
Trained at Manasa School of arts in Mangaluru, Dhanajay has won many awards for his work in the past. Having served as an art teacher at Sathyasai Chokkadi for 3 years, he is presently working at Vidyarashmi. One of his designs on chickengunya fancy dress was acclaimed state-wide.
He is well known for putting waste materials in productive use and his quality works are visible at the Vidyarashmi campus where he works. During an all India Tulu Sammelan in Savanur, he had created a peacock using thermocol in front of a natural Banana plant which drew attention of all visitors who took part in the Sammelan.
With rare species of animals and snakes dwindling in numbers, the future generation may be left only with watching the works of art to know about creatures.
