Madikeri: In repeated incidents of man-animal conflict, a coffee plantation worker was attacked by an elephant at Hirikara in Kodagu district on July 4.
E Erappa (67) is the victim. While Erappa was working in the coffee plantation at around 6.30 AM, the elephant suddenly emerged from the roadside and attacked Erappa. Elephant also tried to trample him but when his family members raised alarm, it fled the spot and luckily, Erappa could manage to escape. An injured Erappa was admitted to the government hospital in Shanivarasanthe.
From two days, a group of the elephants has been wandering in the village and damaging food crops. People have urged the Conservator of Forests to take proper action to resolve repeated man-animal conflict
