Colourful event marks 5th anniversary of Father Muller’s Hospital Thumbay

Mangaluru: The 5th anniversary celebrations of Father Muller Hospital Thumbay (FMHT) was held at its campus on May 1.

Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Principal of Sahyadri College of Management and Technology Dr. U M Bhushi, Administrator of FMHT Dr. Kiran Shetty, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions Fr. Richard Coelho were the guests for the evening function.

The guests lit the lamp and released balloons to open the event. The fifth edition of the magazine Muller at Thumbay was released by Dr. Bhushi.

In his key note speech, Dr Bhushi lauded the yeoman service of Father Muller to the society. “Patients need something more than just medicine. Only when we touch the hearts of the patients can transformations happen”, he opined. Commending the good work done by FMCI he said, “People don’t want hospitals but they look for real transformation. That’s what FMCI is doing!”

In his presidential address, Dr. ALoysius Paul congratulated the administrator of FMHT, the doctors and staff for their remarkable efforts. Elaborating on the intention of opening the hospital in Thumbay, the Bishop said, “The intention of starting this hospital was to help local, rural people in their health needs. We are pleased that people have benefited from the hospital. The hospital has given free medical care to the tune of Rs 64 Lakh in the past year. Until now, FMCI is giving Rs 35 Crore worth free care. It’s our duty to reach the needy.”

The key personnel of the Hospital Fr. Ravi Rudolf D’Sa, Dr. Kiran Shetty and Sr. Theresa Periera were honoured by the Bishop on the occasion. Philanthropist Lokanath Shetty, the sponsor for the eye check-up camp and free spectacle distribution, was honoured for his selfless contribution.

In his speech, Fr. Richard Coelho thanked the staff of the hospital for their wholehearted service to the hospital, the Bishop of Mangalore for his constant guidance, and the people for their continued trust in the hospital. Reiterating that service was the priority of the hospital, he promised to give the best service always.

Rural Health Card was also unveiled at the event and handed over to first three beneficiaries.
