Mangaluru: Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, TM, The Commander, Coast Guard Region(West) was on a two day Maiden visit to Headquarters No.3 Coast Guard(Karnataka) after taking over the helm of Coast Guard Western Region on 23 Nov 23 which encompasses Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep Islands.
The Flag Officer was presented the ceremonial Guard of Honour on arrival by Deputy Inspector General Praveen Kumar Mishra, TM, The Commander (Karnataka). The Flag officer reviewed the operational preparedness and infrastructure development of Karnataka.
Commander IG Bhisham Sharma, TM, reviewed newly constructed Coast Guard Air Enclave (CGAE) at Bajpe and accommodation facilities developed for CG and DSC personnel. The air enclave on operationalization vill strengthen the coastal security setup in Karnataka.
Commander IG Bhisham Sharma, TM, took stock of progress of Indian Coast Guard Academy Project at Kenjaru which is being developed in 159 acres and will facilitate the training of Indian Coast Guard Officer and trainees from friendly foreign countries on maritime specific subjects.
During the review, the Flag Officer interacted with CG Officers and personnel and exhorted all ranks for ensuring the safety and security in the Area of Responsibility. He appreciated the steps undertaken by the Headquarters No. 3 Coast Guard Karnataka in sensitizing fishing community for ensuring economic security off the coast of Karnataka.
